More waterfalls today! And Lark stayed home so I get to write again. We are now in the Finger Lakes region of New York, east of Niagara Falls. We drove here on Saturday. Its Memorial Day weekend so the campground where we are staying is really crowded. There is no dog park, but a big field where we can run and play off leash. But that’s not good for Lark, so she stayed to rest in the trailer. Hopefully when everyone else goes home, she’ll get out to play, too.
Gracie and Micah are here with us! They are going to be travelling with us for the next six weeks. I’m happy to have someone my size to play with. Mom and Dad set up a big pen for us to be in and play. They say it’s the puppy pen and since we are puppies, we get to go there. The big dogs, Lark and Micah have to stay OUT! Its just for me and Gracie.
Micah stayed home, too, so it was just me and Gracie in the car going to the waterfalls. The first waterfall we went to was Buttermilk Falls. It was 65 feet high and very pretty with lots of water going down over the slick rocks. It looked like it would have been fun to slide down. There were a lot of stairs. I was doing okay, but Mom got kind of winded, so she and Julie went back down while Dad and Ernie kept going to the top. It took them about an hour to go up, and they saw 10 waterfalls! I should have gone with them!
Then, we went to the Ithaca Farmers Market, but it was very crowded. Dogs could not go in the area where the vendors were, and I didn’t like the loud music, so we left.
From there, we went to Cornell University to see the campus and Ithaca Falls. I could have had so much fun there. The water’s edge was shallow and would have been a great place to swim. But Dad didn’t want me to get wet and Mom was scared because she saw a sign that said, “No Swimming. People have died here.” People, not dogs!
The waterfall was pretty with a 150-foot drop, but who cares about water if you can’t swim in it?
Still, it was a nice day with my new friend, Gracie.
Love the stories and the pictures are great also . Enjoy your time away from all this rain we are supposed to get later.
